We’ve said enough about ourselves.

To give you a wider perspective, reproduced below are excerpts from letters we’ve received from some of our clients…set against the background of their “client profile”and brief to us.

Clients: Amitabh Bhattacharya and Sona Bose
Destination: Sri Lanka (July 2005)
Purpose: Personal holiday
Length of stay: 7 days
Holiday brief in a nutshell:
“We’ve never had a decent holiday from the day we got married. Why don’t you plan a second honeymoon for us?!”
And their post-holiday comments:
“Travel by Design is a boring name for a team that is so exciting to work with. They planned our Sri Lanka holiday as if it was their own. They had worked out everything for us. Just the way we wanted it. Thanks a lot for a great holiday guys.”

Clients: Sabina, Interactive Media, Bangalore Branch Head
Destination: Mussoorie (June 2005)
Purpose: Annual Conference
Length of stay: 3 days
Holiday brief in a nutshell:
“We’re looking for an unusual place where we can have our annual conference—which must be comfortable but not necessarily luxurious. Most of our team is based in Delhi and the idea is to let them have a chilled out time, but be able to focus on the conference at hand during the day!”
And their post-holiday comments:
“Dealing with Travel by Design has been a very good experience. Was very convenient and hassle free. I particularly liked the fact that the recommendations of places to visit/stay at were not the regular run of the mill types. A case in point was Pine Retreat, which all of us at Interactive found very quaint and charming, without all the trappings of a 'tourist' resort. The service, feedback and revertal times have been great, no complaints. Would definitely recommend going through Travel by Design both professionally and personally. Great job and wishing you all the very, very best!”

Clients: Rajesh Krishnan and Sumi, with their 2-year-old daughter.
Destination: New Zealand (December 2004)
Purpose: Personal holiday
Length of stay: 17 days
Holiday brief in a nutshell:
“In the four years we’ve been married, we’ve never been on an international holiday. Can you suggest where we should go and what we can do, given that we are planning to take our 2-year old along?”
And their post-holiday comments:
“Our trip to New Zealand was the first international trip that my family and I had since our wedding. Honestly, it was worth every e-mail, worth every phone call and worth all the time (which we didn’t have much of, considering the short notice we gave Shabari) and worth every interaction that we had with Travel by Design. Of course, there were a lot of things we could have planned for ourselves (if we had the time and energy) but what made the difference was the value addition by way of those small intangibles that TBD made. Going by the Lonely Planet, there were at least over a dozen places we would’ve given a miss. I am glad we didn’t. Those were the best 17 days our lives yet!”

Clients: Narayan Manepally and Gauri Acharya, with their sons aged 3 and 7.
Destination: Singapore (March 2005)
Purpose: Personal holiday
Length of stay: 8 days
Holiday brief in a nutshell:
“We want to go on a ‘kids’-centric’holiday to Singapore—could you tell us what all there is to do for them? And while you are at it, could you tell us where we should stay?”
And their post-holiday comments:
“For the first time ever, I didn't do a thing! I've always made all my travel arrangements on my own and this time all I did was give Travel by Design our preferences and that was it! In fact, Shabari even asked if I was losing interest in the trip because I hadn't called to find out what progress had been made with the travel arrangements. Once they know your needs, you don't have to make another call to them—they will call you.”
—Gauri

"Travel by Design's (TBD) attention to detail was fantastic. They called the hotel manager in Singapore to sort out a mistake the hotel had made. They even had an hour-to-hour itinerary for us, which we unfortunately could not use since the kids had their own agenda. I will definitely use them again for travels to more exotic destinations, where the careful planning that TBD provides will come in handy."
—Narayan

Clients: Chicku and Jayadeva, with their 18-year-old daughter and Chicku’s mother, aged 73
Destination: Kuala Lumpur and Singapore (December 2004)
Purpose: Personal holiday
Length of stay: 14 days
Holiday brief in a nutshell:
“We’re desperately in need of a nice family holiday. Here’s the tough part: we’re of very different ages; we want our daughter to have a ‘first-world’experience, but are essentially the ‘soaking in the culture and people’rather than ‘shopping and glitz’types; we’d like to explore and discover, but have to allow for a pace that’s comfortable to the oldest member of the group. Where can we go? What should we do?”
And their post-holiday comments:
“This was a wonderful holiday! Travel by Design understood our needs, helped us zero in on the right destinations, efficiently and patiently handled a last-minute Singapore stay extension, booked us into just the kind of places that suited our requirements and created interesting itineraries that gave us the framework to see just what we wanted to at a convenient pace. Best of all, they understood the specific issues involved in a mixed-age-group holiday. From youngest to oldest, we all had a great time, with no hassles anywhere. Thanks to this happy experience, another holiday is very much on our minds!”

Clients: Dr. Sanjay Gururaj and child, travelling with their close family friends (another family of three).
Destination: Darjeeling through Calcutta (April 2005). Put up at a homestay in Darjeeling, away from town but close enough for a day trip.
Purpose: Personal holiday
Length of stay: 5 days
Holiday brief in a nutshell:
“My reputation is at stake! I’ve been given the responsibility of working out an annual holiday for my family and our close friends. We’re six of us. The agenda for the men is to simply relax, the wives to do a bit of everything, and the kids to be occupied with fun stuff.”
And their post-holiday comments:
“Travel by Design, true to its name is actually `by Design’. The thing that struck me immediately once I got the itinerary was the great depth and detail they had gone into to make our trip enjoyable. Not in general, but for me and my family. We had an amazing `pre-trip’briefing that no one has ever done for us before. The true distinction I felt in the service I got was the thoroughly professional yet personalised interaction everytime. We travel a lot, but this particular holiday was different.”

Clients: Dr Mala and Dr Chitra, two close friends, and their families. Made up a group of 8 (2 sets of parents, each couple having 2 teenage children).
Destination:
Corbett National Park, (which included 2 full days of jungle safari), Nainital and Delhi (May 2005).
Purpose: Personal holiday
Length of stay: 8 days
Holiday brief in a nutshell:
“This is our first trip to the North. We want to do at least a day in Delhi. Other than that, we want to do things mainly revolving around our 4 teenagers, stuff we’ve not done before.”
And their post-holiday comments:
“Travel by Design planned out an entire itinerary for us to Corbett, Nainital and Delhi. Thanks to them, we experienced places and activities that we had no clue existed! They even sent us reminder SMSs as we travelled from one place to another of things they pre-empted we might forget! They planned for our holiday like it was their own, with a very personalized and friendly approach.”
